Data acquired through hydrographic surveys are compiled with other navigational information to produce nautical charts which are necessary for safe navigation.

A nautical chart shows essential navigational information and features, such as details of the coast, depths of water, nature of sea bed, locations of dangers, details of tidal levels, locations and characteristics of aids to navigation, delineation of fairways, anchorages and traffic separation schemes, and other supplementary information.

EQUIPMENT

Chart compilation makes use of the 'CARIS' software suite developed by Universal Systems Limited. Hardware consist of servers, data storage, workstations, personal computers, digitizers, scanner, electrostatic plotter and other output devices.
