The main optimizations are as follows:
1. Model Update: The hydrodynamic numerical model has been updated to the 2025 version.
2. New Basemap Option: The eSeaGo Chart is now available as a basemap option.
3. Flow Animations: Added an animation function allowing users to visualize dynamic changes in tidal currents.
Please note that the results for the Ma Wan Transit Tidal Window have also been updated based on the new tidal stream prediction datasets.

The Hydrographic Office of the Marine Department shall discontinue its Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) correction service effective from 1 January 2027.

The Hydrographic Office of Marine Department has launched the Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure Portal (“the Portal”) (28 January 2026). The Portal allows the public to view the locations and information of marine services and facilities, entry restricted areas, height restricted areas and speed restricted areas within Hong Kong waters. It also provides a search function to facilitate the search of marine facilities. You are welcome to visit the Portal at msdi.hydro.gov.hk.

Recently, fraudsters have been impersonating the Marine Department by sending fraudulent emails that invite recipients to participate in procurement exercises. The emails enclosed a TAR-format attachment which is suspected to contain malicious software.
The Hydrographic Office of Marine Department has no connection with the phishing emails. Please be reminded not to open any suspicious email.
